ABOUT THE PROGRAM
BMW has partnered with URG to purchase un-recalled BMW side airbag modules installed in the seatbacks of both the driver and passenger front seats on certain recently salvaged BMW 5 and 7 Series vehicles. These parts are being collected for technical evaluation purposes only.
BMW will pay $200 per side airbag module plus the HazMat Shipping costs. The recycler will be responsible for supplying the required HazMat shipping packaging. (If possible consolidate to one shipment.) Include shipping bill of lading with invoice attached for full reimbursement.
HOW IT WORKS
URG provides the participating yard’s inventory information to BMW, who then evaluate which vehicles may qualify for this program.
If you agree to participate, you must follow the criteria listed here:
- The selected seats for inflator removal should either be still within a vehicle that has remained sealed, i.e., no broken window glass or removed doors, or the seats were removed and stored within an enclosed facility upon initial receipt.
- The inflator modules removed from the seats by the recycling facility must be tagged with the facility name and location and the VIN of the vehicle from which the parts were taken.
- Billing to BMW must be invoiced using the template linked below. Attach HazMat shipping invoice for total reimbursement.
