URG SCHOLARSHIP

The URG Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2014, dedicated to those individuals who gave their talent, time and very often their own finances to ensure the growth and success of the automotive recycling industry.

Created by Auto Recyclers for Recyclers, URG remains focused in the areas of education, business acumen, and most importantly, supporting automotive recyclers in their efforts to provide superior service and exceptional products to the repair industry.

Nine individual scholarships will be awarded for the Fall 2018 semester; $4,000, $3,500, $3,000, $2,500, $2,000, $1,500 and 3-$1,000. Scholarship amounts will be determined upon review of information submitted within the application.

To make a tax-deductible donation to the URG Scholarship Program, please mail a check made out to URG Scholarship Foundation to the URG office, or fill out one of the below forms:  All donations will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

2018 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS - Congratulations!

1st place $4,000 - Moriah Flanagan - Nordstrom's
Throughout high school, I was very active in many organizations, including Garretson FFA, Minnesota 4-H, Yearbook, Quiz Bowl, and many more. Nordstrom’s Automotive has always been a huge supporter of events in the community, especially FFA. Nordstrom’s has continued to support me throughout college by being a part of the United Recyclers Group, which has awarded me the 2017 and 2018 scholarships. Because of this scholarship, I have been able to focus on my classes and join many organizations. Through this, I have been able to earn the positions of Executive Scholarship Assistant for Chi Omega, Treasurer for Honors College Student Organization, and Events Coordinator for the Microbiology club.

 

2nd place $3,500 - Molly Snow - Bay Auto
Molly is the daughter of Jay and Jodi Snow. She is currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering. She hopes in the future she can have a positive impact on the well-being of the planet. She would like to thank the URG Foundation for this amazing opportunity and helping her work towards her goals.  She would also like to thank her mom and dad for all of their guidance and support. “I would not be where I am without my amazing parents”.

 

3rd place $3,000 - Abby Steinbeck - Stoystown
Abigail Steinbeck is a current senior at Windber Area High school in Windber, Pennsylvania. She is involved in soccer, forensics, and many other clubs and activities in her school. She was a captain for her soccer team, the president of forensics, and she is the current vice-president for the National Honor Society. After completing high school, she plans on attending Westminster College to major in Neuroscience and Pre-medicine. She has a guaranteed acceptance into Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine where she will pursue a medical degree after obtaining her bachelor’s degree.

 

4th place $2,500 - Benjamin Hart - NEATR
I am honored to be one of the 2018 URG Scholarship recipients, as I am sure there were many equally qualified applicants. My time throughout college at Stony Brook University has been filled with leadership opportunities, academic vigor, valuable internships, and great friendships. This scholarship will help assist me in making the most of my senior year as I pursue a degree in Business Management with a double concentration in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. With an honor such as this, I also take the opportunity thank my friends, family, mentors, and professors who have all played a role in getting me to where I am now. I continue to find we have something to learn from everyone.

5th place $2,000 - Benjamin Murrin - Bessler Auto
I am incredibly excited to have been awarded such an amazing honor, and I would like to thank URG for making this possible.  This scholarship will help me to further my education at the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering this upcoming fall where I will major in Mechanical Engineering.  Throughout my high school career, I have been presented with many opportunities that have formed me into who I am today, and the help of this scholarship will allow me to continue to pursue such opportunities in the future.  Once again, thank you to URG and congratulations to my fellow winners.

 

6th place $1,500 - Beth Bruggeman - Nordstrom's
United Recyclers Group Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce Beth Bruggeman as the 6th place $1,500 scholarship award winner for 2018. Beth is the daughter of James and Cheryl Bruggeman. James is employed by Nordstrom’s Auto Recycling. Nordstrom’s is a 5-year member of URG an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing automotive recycling and its members. Beth, a student at the University of South Dakota, is Majoring in Medical Biology.

7th place $1,000 - Lissette Garza - Nordstrom's
United Recyclers Group, I am so thankful to have been chosen as a scholarship recipient this year. My education has always been important to me and your generosity will allow me to go through college with a little less financial stress. I can assure you that the award will be used to its full potential as I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Thank you again for helping me as I continue to pursue my career.

 

 

8th place $1,000 - Alexandria Cozadd - Midway Auto
I am very thankful that my hard work got me where I am.  I plan on using it for my schooling and to help further my education while majoring in Communication Science and Disorders at Fort Hays State University.

 

 

 

 

9th place $1,000 - Jenesis Gustafson - St. Croix
Jenesis is the daughter of Destiny and Trent Gross.  Trent is employed by St. Croix Auto Parts.  Jenesis will attend the University of Minnesota this fall at the Twin Cities campus and plans to major in Mass Communications.  Jenesis says, “This scholarship provides me with greater financial stability as I prepare for the next step in my academic career.  I am thankful for the support United Recyclers Group has graciously given to me.”

 

2017 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

1st place $3,000 - Moriah Flanagan - Nordstrom's
Moriah is the daughter of John & Kerri Flanagan. "Throughout my years at Garretson High School, I have been a very active member of 4-H, FFA, Teens Against Tobacco Use, Yearbook and many other clubs. These clubs have allowed me to grow business relationships throughout the community. One of the strongest supporters was Nordstrom's Automotive, who continually funded our activities. I appreciate URG for continuing to help improve my life through this scholarship. With this money, I will be attending South Dakota State University and majoring in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Secondary Math Education."

 

2nd place $2,500 - Beth Bruggeman - Nordstrom's
Beth is the daughter of James & Cheryl Bruggeman.  Beth, a Dell Rapids Public School senior, has been accepted to the honors program at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.  Her major is undecided, but she plans to explore a medical career.

 

3rd place - $2,000 - Shelby Koraleski - Kosiski Auto
Shelby is a high honor roll student at Omaha Gross Catholic High School. She has completed over 125 hours of community service and plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to major in Radiology.

 

 

 

4th place - $1,500 - Christian Pacifico - Stoystown
Christian is enrolled in the academic curriculum at Somerset Area High School. He is involved with several different school activities such as “Senator for a Day” and “We the People Constitutional” Debate Team. He played and earned Varsity Letters in Basketball and Baseball. He loves to be outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. Christian also is a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. His future plans are to attend Penn State University and Major in Molecular Biology while playing Baseball at Penn State Behrend.

 

5th place - $1,000 - Mariah Vaillancourt - Snyder's
Mariah is the daughter of Christopher and Jocelyne Vaillancourt. "I am so honored to be a recipient of the URG Scholarship Foundation, which will allow me to further my education at Blinn College in the Fall. I am currently a senior at Salado High School. This scholarship will give me the opportunity to attend the Dental Hygiene program and will also give me invaluable life experiences and memories. I am looking forward to facing the challenges ahead in order to grow as both a student and an adult."

2016 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Rachel is the daughter of Tom & Mary Murrin. Tom & Mary are both employed by Bessler Auto Parts. Bessler Auto Parts is an 18 year member of URG, an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing automotive recycling and its members. Rachel is currently attending the University of Louisville, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. Rachel says “It gives me more financial stability so that I can continue focusing on my studies through the honors program and volunteering through campus organizations. It allows me to be a more competitive applicant to medical school in the future. I sincerely appreciate the opportunities that this scholarship has opened up for me.”

alicia-demilleUnited Recyclers Group Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce Alicia DeMille as the 2nd place, $1,500 scholarship award winner for 2016. Alicia is the daughter of Lisa DeMille, who is employed in the Accounting Office at Chuck’s Auto Salvage. Chuck’s Auto Salvage is an 18 year member of URG, an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing automotive recycling and its members. Alicia is currently a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in Secondary English Education with a minor in Art Education. Alicia hopes to become a high school English and Art teacher after graduating.

tanner-srbinovichUnited Recyclers Group Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce Tanner Srbinovich as the 3rd place, $1,000 scholarship award winner for 2016. Tanner is the son of Michael & Melanie Srbinovich. Michael is a driver for Jordan Auto Parts. Jordan Auto Parts is a 6 year member of URG, an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing automotive recycling and its members. Tanner will be a sophomore at The Pennsylvania State University: University Park, majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Business. Tanner won a scholarship last year and says “I was able to adapt and succeed in my studies without having to stress about finances thanks to URG.”

Andres is the son of Nelly and Ricardo Garza. Ricardo is a supervisor at Nordstrom’s Automotive. Nordstrom’s Automotive is a 3 year member of URG, an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing automotive recycling and its members. Andres is currently attending Minnesota State University Mankato, pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Andres says “This great achievement only encourages me to keep on pursuing my ultimate career goals. I am very thankful to be given this award to help fund my education.”

2015 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

United Recyclers Group Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce Amanda Polipnick as the 1st place, $2,500 scholarship award winner for 2015. Amanda is the daughter of Tony & Brenda Polipnick. Tony is a salesperson for Jerry’s Auto Salvage. Jerry’s Auto Salvage is a 17 year member of URG, an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing automotive recycling and it’s members. Amanda is currently a pre-vet student at Anoka-Ramsey Community College and is working toward becoming a large animal veterinarian. Amanda says “Winning the URG scholarship has encouraged me to continue pursuing my dreams of becoming a Veterinarian, it is additional proof that all my studying and hard work does pay off.”
